Dear Room 20 Families,
Our students are looking forward to this well-deserved Memorial Day weekend! Check out what we were up to this week:
Math: Our mathematicians spent some time reviewing and diving deeper into measuring/drawing angles and working on geometry skills. They were also introduced to a new project where they will be in teams making math games for other students at Birch Meadow to play! Our class was buzzing with excitement as they started to plan their games. Look for more information being sent home today with your student.
Reading/Writing: This week in reading and writing, students continued working on researching and taking notes from books, articles, and websites about the Civil Rights Movement. We discussed the importance of not being a fact-collecting robot, but instead, using our imaginations to put ourselves in the shoes of people living during this time. We are so impressed with the maturity our class is showing during this unit!
Science: Our scientists continued our unit on electrical energy! This week, they learned about circuits and the flow of electricity by building both simple circuits as well as series circuits. Pictures from our circuit design can be seen under the photos tab or on our Facebook page!
Social Studies: This week, teams of students presented their Southwest Powerpoints. These will be linked to our Facebook for you to look at! We also started the West region by identifying the states in that region as well as doing some reading about the land, water, and climate about the West.
