We were so busy this week! Our students made some great gains across ALL content areas. Here's what we've been up to!
Math: Our mathematicians started chapter two and practiced rounding and estimating with numbers up to the hundred thousands. We also discussed when to round vs. when to find an exact answer in the real world.
Reading; This week, we practiced finding the main idea and details of a text, as well as finding themes and visualizing settings. We used different graphic organizers to help us pull out the information we needed. We were super impressed with how much the class already knew about these topics! We also had an awesome time celebrating idiom day this week!
Writing: This week, we started a project called The Best Part of Me, in which students are choosing one part of themselves (head, hands, legs, etc.) and describing why it is the best part of them using figurative language. This project is based off of the book The Best Part of Me by Wendy Ewald.
Science: Our scientists completed a lab in which they hypothesized which substance had more matter: sand or gravel? In teams, they completed trials to test their hypotheses, collect data, and write up conclusions based on their results.
Social Studies: In social studies, our students continued their work with latitude and longitude and practiced using coordinates while they plated latitude/longitude battleship! We also started studying landforms.
