Dear Room 20 Families,
It was great seeing all of you this week at conferences. Thank you so much for constantly supporting us and helping your children to succeed!
Here's what we've been up to this week :)
Math: We wrapped up our third chapter and started reviewing for the test. Students used stamina to work through difficult 2 and 3-step word problems.
Reading: Students continued to meet with their reading groups and use collaborative literature circle roles to help facilitate discussion. They talked about theme and practiced identifying themes within texts. They also continued to work on responding to their reading through writing by using details and evidence from the text.
Writing: Out writers continued to revise and edit their realistic fiction stories. They worked on adding details and showing not telling. Some students also began publishing their work on the computer.
Science: We continued talking about earth's features in relation to tectonic plates.
Social Studies: Students read about different locations in the Northeast region and completed an assembly line simulation to feel like it would have been like to work at Hershey's Chocolate Factory! They also took their quiz on the Northeast states and capitals.
Reminders:
Chapter 3 Math Test: Tuesday, 11/21
11 AM dismissal for students: Wednesday, 11/22
No School: Thursday, 11/23 & Friday, 11/24
