We had so much fun celebrating idiom day this Thursday! It was awesome to see all of the clever and creative ideas! Here's what else was happening this week:
Math: We took our first math test and started a new chapter. We're practicing using rounding and estimation to check our work.
Reading: We learned all about main idea and theme. Students evidence from various short stories and informational texts to describe the theme and main idea.
Writing: We started working on descriptive writing. We brought in many colorful pictures of scenery (that we collected from calendars) and students chose one picture to write about, using figurative language in their work.
Science: Our scientists were busy completing their first lab this week! In our lab, we compared the masses of sand and gravel, using the same volume measurement for each substance.
Social Studies: We continued practicing using latitude and longitude coordinates to locate places on a map.
