Dear Families,
We were warm and cozy in our flannel today! Check out what we've been up to this week:
Math: We started working on unit 3: multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers. Students are learning several different multiplication strategies such as the standard model, place value model, and area model.
Reading: We continued our reading groups and learned about literature circle roles. Students were able to have jobs within their reading groups, such as discussion director, summarizer, connector, question reader, vocabulary enricher, and illustrator. They also worked on responding to reading using details and evidence from the text.
Writing: Students participated in a shared writing activity and helped us to act out and write a story together. Then, they independently wrote scenes 1, 2, and 3 of their own realistic fiction stories
Science: Our scientists started chapter 2! They read about the Earth's surface and played memory to learn new vocabulary.
Social Studies: Students continued working on their expert group posters of the Northeast Region. They did a great job planning out their work and cooperatively working together.
Reminders:
