Dear Room 20 Families,
Check out all that we were up to this week!
Math: Our mathematicians finally finished our LONG unit on fractions!! Students worked so hard on this unit and we are amazed by their perseverance and determination!
Reading: This week in reading, we continued our unit on historical fiction! We are still reading Number the Stars and it is getting so suspenseful! The 6 book clubs happening in our classroom right now are deep into their books and having powerful conversations about what they are reading. Students are also practicing responding to their reading through quick writes.
Writing: This week in writing, students began composing their literary essays based on the book Fox. Each student worked on creating a thesis statement and began drafting their essay to support their thesis.
Science: Our scientists finished their transpiration lab and are spending some time observing our tadpoles! They are growing so quickly!
Social Studies: This week, students continued their study of the Midwest region! They completed some reading about the products, natural resources, landmarks, and culture. They also each started researching a state in the Midwest and they will be creating a brochure for their state.
Reminders:
